About OWMD
What is Out With My Dog?
OWMD started out of sheer frustration with the chaotic corporate-sponsorship-drenched scattering of dog-related info on the internet. Looking for dog-friendly lodging? Sift through a pile of outdated or just plain messy websites and find out that Motel 6 is in fact dog-friendly…kind of. Feel like having dinner at a place where your pup will be welcomed? Choose from a long uninformative list of restaurants and hope ‘pet-friendly seating’ doesn’t mean your hound must be hitched to the other side of the fence wrapping around the ‘patio area’ of your local bistro. Want to compare collars, leashes, toys and harnesses without being oddly steered toward the ‘Item of the Month’ or the ‘Cesar Millan Recommends’ section of a site? Want to find a comprehensive list of local or small business pet retailers and give a hand to the little guys? No can do, the novelty pet industry has become a multi-billion dollar monster and as always, low quality materials are the key to success. And what if you’re looking for an event where your dog can tag along? No, not a pet parade or a dog park party; not mobile vet day at the pet store or an agility show on the college lawn, some place where the humans can play amongst themselves and the canines can keep them company. Well, good luck, no such site exists with all these listings contained in one place…until now.
To keep it short, OWMD is part review site, part lifestyle blog, part discussion board. It’s about living and enjoying life alongside the best kind of companion you’ll ever know. It’s about making the most of it, from the very first wee wee pad to the very last belly rub.
And yeah, it’s also Under Construction, so bookmark everywhere and check back often.
Editor’s Addendum: Our Motto
Yes, OWMD’s official motto is, “Let the Tail Be Your Guide,” and ok, OWMD’s Poster Dog doesn’t really have a tail, but who cares. We’re sticking to it. Besides, how weird would it be if we insisted that you, “Let the Nubbin Be Your Guide” or better yet, “Let-the-Butt-Wiggle-Which-Becomes-a-Full-Body-Wiggle-But-Only-When-Something-is-Truly-Awesome Be Your Guide”? You’d think we were strange and highly exclusionary to the wider tailed-canine community. And we wouldn’t want that, now would we?
