5 (sorta ridiculous) signs that you love your dog too much.

by admin on Sep.29, 2009, under Just for Fun

saddness
Grief counselor/Nurse Practitioner: Marty Tousley gave The Examiner 5 signs that you and your pooch need some alone time. The following are the points as well as some selected life lessons from Tousley.

Sign 1: You only relate to your dog. Is it because I talk dog?

Sign 2: Your social life revolves around your dog. “You and your dog need time away from each other [...]allow your dog time with his canine friends too. ”

Sign 3: You believe you can’t live without your dog. “The very idea of him dying sends you in a tizzy.” When did not wanting to live without a dog equate to compulsive projection of hypochondria onto my canine?

Sign 4: You think about your pet to exclusion of other things. “These things include your health, hygiene and job” I always forget to shower when I’m with my dog.

Sign 5: Your relationships are damaged because of your dog. “Significant others fight with you constantly over your dog – or have left you alone over him”

Its funny though because we at OWMD would be extremely saddened if our dogs didn’t exhibit all five signs of an “unhealthy” love for us. Also, is it just us or did Marty simply replace “Dog” for “human” when she selectively attributed the signs of Dependent Personality Disorder to her article?

We don’t get it, but it’s cool.

Yogadogs sells stuff with dogs doing yoga. While undoubtedly cool for a moment of distraction, I’m still trying to figure out why I would want a baseball tee of a Dachshund, inverted.

If you leave your dog in the car to buy beer, he will go get coffee.

by admin on Sep.17, 2009, under Just for Fun, News

Wilco the bully mix “accidently” “jumped up on the column gear stick” and drove through the front of a café as his person left the engine running in order to buy beer. I don’t buy it, I think Wilco needed some caffeination, you can see the guilt on his face in the press photos. It turns out that this story ended in the best way, no one was hurt and there was little property damage with the owner and Wilco being let off with a warning from the Local Kiwi Police. Moral of the story is “always take the keys out of the car with you”, but I give them points for leaving the keys in the truck with Wilco as they take pictures of him, that takes guts.

Sad looking doggie mug shot and the Vid below.

Columbia School District ignores the ADA/Court Order and shut out 5 year old boy with Autism from school

by admin on Sep.17, 2009, under News

Little Carter Kalibfleisch will not be attending his local school and will instead, be commuting 30 miles away from his home in Columbia, IL for his education. Despite the court order to allow Carter and his service dog in school, the District has “argued the courts had no jurisdiction over the case. When that failed, [the district] cited concerns from the family of another student who’s allergic to dogs.”  There seems to be recent trend that institutions act on arbitrary and uninformed stances in order to disallow access of people with service animals. Earlier this year, a blind woman on a Delta flight was told “that a flight attendant on the flight was scared of dogs and that she’d have to change her seat.” Video and link below.
